Summary:
The Investor Accountant I is responsible for reconciling activities that will monitor tasks from Accounting, Treasury Operations, and Investor Reporting. This individual must have a deep understanding of mortgage activities and loan workouts as they relate to reporting.  The position may also handle loan level reporting to some investors when necessary.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Primary liaison between Mortgage Operations, Accounting and Treasury Operations ensuring accuracy and compliance of all Investor Reporting/Accounting.
  • Performs monthly audits of investor collection and escrow accounts reconciling bank, servicing system and general ledger accounts
  • Leads Accounting, Treasury Operations and related mortgage operations in decisions related to the creation and use of new bank and general ledger
  • Completes assigned reconciliations accurately, completely and in the time frame required by corporate policies
  • Prepares and ensures accuracy and integrity of accounting and transactional records to ensure proper financial reporting
  • Remits funds transfers by preparing checks or initiating wire transfers.
  • Identifies operational risks and escalate issues to senior/executive management..
  • Researches and review accounts, items, or processes selected for audit.
  • Use all appropriate tools to maintain detailed audit records including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Access, and SQL.
  • Completes monthly work flow audit.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • 2-3 years of work experience in a related field
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Able to effectively interact with managers and members of the functional areas including but not limited to Accounting, Treasury Operations, Operations, and Loan Administration
  • A self-motivated work style and a strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet timelines
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting reconciliations
  • Above average skill levels in MS Excel is required
  • Basic knowledge and use of SQL
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related studies
